I reside in the Colorado mountains at 10000 ft elevation. The home sits on a massive rock outcropping just barely covered by dirt. Storms build here ahead of moving out east to the plains. The rock outcropping is a fantastic attractor of lightning. Just before working with the Belkin surge protector we lost a great number of a telephone and modem if we forgot to unplug the telephone lines. We got hit with lightning final week, sufficient to rattle the windows, and the surge protector took the hit and protected the telephone. I'm sold. I am choosing two additional, one to replace the old a single and one spare. Its a lot less expensive to replace the surge protector than the phone.

This item is solidly built and comes with really good written knowledge. It also has 2 warning lights, 1 for power and one particular for surge protection. It also has a line for the telephone cord. It plugs into the wall solidly and other products plug into it solidly. It comes with a generous guarantee, while you have to read the fine print to find out that if a given device (e.g. Tv) does not also have separate surge protection for the cable, the warranty is void. No lightening strikes but so I can not tell you how properly it protects against surges.
